About Jaclyn

Jaclyn Caruana is the Co-Founder of Epic Exam Prep, a premium test preparation company she built from the ground up after recognizing the sharp inequality between resources available to students in the United States and those available to students in Europe. She is one of Europe's leading experts in international exam preparation.

Jaclyn began teaching standardized exams as a student herself, tutoring SAT and AP throughout high school and university in upstate New York. After completing her degree in Business and an MBA, she worked in finance before reconnecting with her passion for teaching in 2010. The EPIC brand was born in Milan in 2011 and EPIC formally opened its first office in Barcelona in 2012, quickly becoming the reference point in the city for students preparing for the world's top universities and master's programs. Epic Exam Prep has since grown into a multi-office European operation with locations in Barcelona, Madrid, Milan, and Zurich.

She is the author of SAT Desmos Hacks: The EPIC Method, published in 2026, and is recognized as the author of the first books ever published worldwide on Digital SAT preparation. She is also the creator of Boost Your Prep, the first European SAT preparation software developed by a test prep company, built on a deep study of Bluebook, the official Digital SAT environment, and continuously updated as new trends emerge in the exam.

At Epic Exam Prep, Jaclyn leads strategy, curriculum, and product across the company while continuing to teach a small number of high-level students directly. Working with these exams every single day, building the materials, analyzing the latest Bluebook releases, writing the books, and teaching the students who push hardest at the top of the scoring scale, has made her one of the most current voices on the Digital SAT, GMAT Focus, and GRE in Europe.

Through PrepDrills she has built free tools used by students worldwide, including the Digital SAT Score Calculator based on all eight official College Board practice tests, the GMAT Focus Score Estimator, the GRE Calculator simulator, and the most comprehensive blog covering the Digital SAT, GMAT Focus, GRE, and international university admissions.

On TOEFL: building the platform after the 2026 format change

While Jaclyn's day-to-day teaching focuses on the SAT, GMAT, and GRE, the PrepDrills team under her direction designed and built the TOEFL practice platform at toefl.prepdrills.com in response to the major ETS format change that took effect in January 2026. The new format introduced new task types in Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing, along with a new band scoring system, and at the time of the change there was no comprehensive practice software fully aligned to the updated format.

The PrepDrills TOEFL platform was built to fill that gap. It is now used by students worldwide and is the most comprehensive TOEFL 2026 practice software built specifically for the new ETS format. Jaclyn directs the editorial standards behind every published TOEFL guide on PrepDrills, drawing on the deep TOEFL expertise of the Epic Exam Prep team, who teach the exam to students every week.
